As a Child and Adolescent Therapist and Counselor, I have worked with children and teens for twenty years and have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) since 2001.
I have helped many children, teens and their families deal with anger, defiance, teasing and bullying parenting, anxiety and mood disorders, AD/HD, learning disabilities, disruptive behaviors, grief, loss, trauma, parent-child conflict, divorce, high-functioning autism and pervasive developmental disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, and other mental health challenges.
I spent over seventeen years working in K-8 schools in several districts in California and worked with children and their families, individually and in groups. I learned how schools work and how to help them to help your child.
As part of my clinical work, I collaborate with a variety of mental health providers, such as local psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, behavior specialists and in-school professionals. I have also worked with numerous related service agencies, including local school districts, the Department of Mental Health, and Child Protective Services.
Working with children and teens often results in referrals for parents or couples to get additional help.
I also offer counseling and psychotherapy for adults and couples. See www.larrygoodmanmft.com for more information.
